演讲题目: Specification Driven Development
演讲会场: 6月15日(周五),北京(全体会议)
演讲摘要:
The fundamental core of application development lies in the knowledge gained and used throughout the development process. From informal ideas and feature requests, to formal specifications, design documents, development plans, test cases, release notes, and user documentation, Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) is a knowledge-centric process.
Specifications shall be the driving force in this process. A successful ALM process shall achieve two things: First design teams shall develop a well designed and communicated “conceptual product”; Then, distributed implementation teams shall develop an “actual product”. The key for success is to develop a right set of specifications and designs early on and make design changes under control throughout an application lifecycle.
Given its success in 1,500 customers worldwide, TechExcel DevSuite provides an effective solution to make ALM process truly knowledge-centric and specification-driven.
演讲题目: SpecDD for Better Project Measurement
演讲会场:6月16日(周六),北京(分论坛一)
演讲摘要:
Managing design changes is critical to the success of any application development project. If changes happen later in the development cycle, there is a higher risk that projects could run over-budget and over-schedule. This is referred to as “scope creep”, and is a major cause of project failure.
TechExcel’s requirement management tool, DevSpec, provides an effective mechanism to combat scope creep by enforcing a process around specification development. DevSpec gives team members increased visibility, traceability and validation of product designs and specifications.
DevSpec creates new levels of collaboration through its robust concept development platform. This platform allows all team members, from engineering and sales to marketing and administration to interact with the design process. Product managers can use this input to build feature lists, specifications, and conceptually model each release of the product. Features and designs can then be clearly defined and communicated early on, preventing unnecessary design changes.
Every change in an idea, a specification, or a requirement can be tracked and managed in DevSpec. In addition, each change can be associated with an itemized estimate of costs and timeline changes. The financial and time impact of changes are clearly measured and reported. By monitoring and managing changes quantitatively, development teams are able to enhance their development productivity and ROI.
DevSpec is also tightly integrated with TechExcel’s DevSuite- allowing complete traceability from requirements, to specifications, to implementation, and QA testing. This unified system collects and displays the information critical to a project’s success: putting it at the fingertips of the decision-makers who depend on it.
